"As long as I can remember I’ve loved art. I grew up in communist Bucharest, Romania, in a household full of books and art, and after the 1989 revolution my parents enrolled me into a local prestigious art school aged 8, where I studied one day a week just drawing or painting, until transitioning to high school when it turned into two days a week of a whole range of art studies... I was then and still am now so influenced by Romanian artists like Corneliu Baba, Stefan Luchian or Alexandru Ciucurencu.
Over the last two decades I’ve worked as an artist, graphic designer, video editor and more, trying my hands at anything creative. I am now interested in all aspects of art, though my first love is portraiture and unravelling peoples stories and personalities while using symbolism to create unique individual pockets of someone's world. Recently I've decided to go out painting the outdoors and the vibrant city around me, with its unique landmarks like the Brighton Pavilion's windows or St Nicholas Rest Garden's victorian vaults, a local central cemetery where you can walk past and relax amongst some of the most beautifully decaying architecture.
My style morphs and changes with the subjects I choose, whether is figurative or depicting ideas, I find that I apply subconsciously a lot of "design" ideas through compositions and directing viewer's attention using minimal line drawing and popping colour. I don’t know what style/subject I’ll choose next but since I don’t believe in having one style to define you as an artist I very much welcome the surprises part of this journey. Feel free to drop me a line if you’d like to work on a project with me."
