Je Danse

A series inspired by the black and white photographs found in Matthew Brookes' book, Les Danseurs, which depicts 20 male dancers from the Paris Opera Ballet, as human athletes and sculptures, more or less, flying, standing, contorsioning mid air or seated.

Ive taken on the challenge as treating them as references and models to a human ideal inhabiting a world that could well not exist post AI, remnants of a beauty ideal we’ve heralded as perfect for thousands of years.

A massive project which I’ve only just began sketching and still yet to find an artistic language for.
